Welcome to Ipswich Academy. I am Pamela Hutchison, the Executive Principal. I started working regularly at this school in June 2014 and my role is to head the leadership team to make sure that the school makes rapid progress.

Among several changes I have made is a new initiative for training, supporting and coaching staff which helps them to share best practice in teaching and managing the classroom.

The academy also has a new rewards programme for students which will acknowledge and reward those students who meet our expectations on behaviour, attendance, work performance and attitude.

I am looking forward to leading the academy through its journey of improvement. If you would like to speak to me about any aspect of the academy, please contact me through the academy.

Being e-safe! — The Learning Schools Trust working in partnership with Childnet

Childnet´s mission is to work with others to help make the internet a great and safe place for children. With technology being important in the way our students learn and play, we believe they are the perfect organisation to work with to promote the benefits of technology in learning, whilst keeping our students safe. By clicking here, you will be directed to Childnet´s webpage where you will find lots of information about how to keep children safe online. Our student and teacher IT ambassadors are being trained by Childnet on how to be e-safe — they will then take these ideas back to their respective Academies and train others.

Work experience in India
Two Sixth Form students from Ipswich Academy have joined fellow students from sister schools Elizabeth Woodville School and Twickenham Academy for a trip of a lifetime, doing work experience in a school in India. The trip forms part of the wonderful opportunities available to our students as part of a global network. Read more to see why they were chosen, and for their latest blog and photos.
